Joyce was born on December 4, 1926, the eldest daughter of Jonas and Emma(Stensrude) Domsteen in Columbus, ND. She was raised and educated in Columbus. While working at the Truax-Traer cook house she met Walter Anderson. They were married August 18, 1945 at Plentywood, MT. They lived in Columbus until 1969, when Walt was transferred to the Glenharold Mine at Stanton. Together they retired in Hazen and lived until Walter’s passing. She then resided at Knife River Care Center, Beulah, ND.

Her family has many fond memories of family holidays and birthdays which she made very special with food, decorations, and fun. Their house always had a drawer in the kitchen with special treats.

Her greatest joys were her grandchildren who she spent many hours playing games with, especially Bingo. Through all of her difficult challenges due to her brain tumor and stroke at age 62, she always had a smile and never complained. After her stroke she still enjoyed her grandchildren coming over and going for a ride in the car and shopping trips with a DQ treat after. She will live in our hearts forever.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mervyn and Jean Anderson, Bismarck, ND; one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and David Grant, Hazen; four grandchildren, Beth (Steve) Wangler, Bismarck, ND, Michael (Rachelle) Anderson, Hazen, Dustin (Nikki) Grant, Bismarck, ND, Heather (Tom) Volk, Hazen; nine great-grandchildren, Conner and Kaedyn Wangler, Dylan, McKenzie, and Kaycee Anderson, Marshall and Lane Grant, Isabella and Walter Volk; one sister, Allene Miller, Hazen, and one brother, Ron Domsteen, Minot, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Walter, her parents, one brother Donald, and one great granddaughter Breanna Wangler.

Arrangements are conducted by Barbot Funeral Home, Beulah and Hazen.
