VALINDA (GUENTHNER) REICH DROSTE, 98, of Wittenberg, WI, formerly of Hazen, ND, died Saturday, October 15, 2016 at a nursing home in Wittenberg, WI.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT, Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Barbot Funeral Home, Hazen with Pastor Al Baier officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hazen City Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Hazen.

Valinda was born on July 29, 1918, to Tobias and Lydia (Kilber) Guenthner at Expansion, ND.  She was raised and educated at a one room country school near there.  In 1938, she married Herb Reich.  Together they loved gardening and fishing on Lake Sakakawea.  Herb passed away in 1962.  Valinda moved to Milwaukee, WI, in 1965, and worked at Everett Knitting.  She married Claude Droste in 1974 and he passed away in 1990.  Valinda was an avid quilter and did beautiful crochet projects and she loved to dance and belonged to a square dancing group.  She was always known for keeping a very neat home.

Valinda is survived by her daughters, Marlene (Keith) Swearingen of New London, WI, Eldora (Cecil) Alg of Harvey, ND; grandchildren, Julie (Roy) Considine, Paul Swearingen, Rachel John Balbach) Swearingen, Jason (Shawn) Swearingen, Sherree Larson, Christopher (Tiffany) Primeau,

 Kim (Ron) Waswick; seven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Bennie (Henrietta) Guenthner of Hazen; two sisters-in-law, Emma and Janice Guenthner;

She was preceded in death by parents; husbands, Herbert Reich and Claude Droste; grandsons, Mark and James Swearingen; brothers, Reuben, Ervin, Elthor, Otto and Johnny Guenthner; sisters, Lorraine Kruckenberg, Ruth Oster and Anna Fetzer.
